Update on Construction at the Residences at 151

June 4, 2009

Local Ashevillians have been watching the progress of construction of the new Hotel Indigo and The Residences at 151. Here’s the latest construction update I’ve received from the developer:

Jennifer,

Back from Asheville last night after a great few days at the site.  The project is moving along with glass being installed at the condo level, the interior elevator has about 30 days to go yet, drywall is being installed on the hotel floors and studs are going up in the condo levels.  Take a look at the photo gallery and you will see there is a lot going on. We are on schedule for a completion and opening the first week of October.

We now have a Director of Sales, Susan Newton who hit the ground running as of June 1st.   Additionally we hired the General Manager for the hotel.  We are excited to have these positions filled with great people who understand the importance of great customer service!

We’re getting a lot more interest in the condos now that we can actually get buyers into the building. (As long as they are either willing to climb up the stairs, or ride the construction elevator on the outside of the building, that is an experience in itself!)

Many of you participated in a survey we did a month or so ago regarding the sale and rental of condo units.  We are now finalizing the details for our program and will be back with those that expressed an interest very soon.  We believe this will be a very exciting and needed addition to the Asheville market.

Any comments or questions let us know.

Why is Asheville spelled with an “e” in the middle?

May 28, 2009

Asheville is named for Samuel Ashe (1725-1813), who was elected governor of North Carolina in the 1795, at the age of 70.

He was born in Beaufort, North Carolina into a politically active family, but was orphaned at the age of 9.

Ashe was involved in the movement to gain independence from Britian and served on the NC Provincial Congress, was a member of the militia and had a part in drafting the first North Carolina Constitution.

He was the first speaker of the NC Senate and was the presiding judge of the state Superior Court until he was elected governor. He served for three years (the constitutional limit) and retired in 1798.

The city of Asheboro is also named after him.

The newest luxury condos in downtown Asheville are The Residences at 151. Set high atop the newest Hotel Indigo, currently under construction in the heart of Asheville’s hustle and bustle of color and culture, these 12 condos will offer its residents all the security and amenities that come with living above a boutique hotel. The condos will make up the 10th, 11th, 12th and penthouse floors of the building. Each floor is made up of three units (1500, 1700 and 2285 square feet) featuring long-range mountain views and spacious, thoughtful floor plans.
